SAFETY RULES: Let’s all remember to practice the following on our drives:
- Turn your headlights on.
- Don’t leave a big gap between your car and the car in front of you. Obviously you shouldn’t follow too close but keeping close while maintaining safety with car in front you helps to prevent outsiders from slipping in to the line. Always maintain visual contact with the car in front of you.
- You are responsible for the car in front of you. If he/she pulls over you should too to provide any assistance.
- /Let somebody know if you plan to the leave the group.
- We try to use the hand held, walkie-talkie style radios. We use a Midland “X Talker”. One should be in the lead car, one in the middle, and one in the rear car. The rear car is also the “sweeper”. If any one pulls out of line or makes a wrong turn, the sweeper should let the lead car know via radio and then provide any help or assistance needed.
- The lead car cell phone number will be on the drive directions.
- We try to avoid the interstate on our drives. But on the rare occasion that we must, don’t stop on the interstate if it can be avoided.
- Don’t take the time to back into a parking space. This causes the following cars to remain out on the road blocking traffic.
- Remember to have fun and enjoy the drive!
